The Consortium
Ever since Â鶹´«Ã½y sent its first group of students to Montepulciano, Italy, in 1999, the University has partnered with a consortium of schools within the University System of Georgia to develop programs in Tuscany.
Currently, the Montepulciano Consortium is responsible for the traditional summer study abroad programs in Montepulciano—two, month-long sessions. Students from across the University System of Georgia take general education courses and upper-division courses in fine arts, liberal arts, humanities, and sciences while taking field trips throughout the Italian peninsula. Courses are taught by faculty from Â鶹´«Ã½, GCSU, Georgia Southern, and VSU and past subjects include art, art history,
literature, Italian studies, sociology, theater, psychology, anthropology, geography,
mathematics, science, political science, English, and writing.
